Talula Cartwright

Talula is a senior faculty member at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®) in Greensboro, NC, where she has managed both projects and programs. Talula trains the Center’s flagship offering, the Leadership Development Program (LDP)®, Foundations of Leadership, Coaching for Development, The Looking Glass Experience, and The Women’s Leadership Program. She uses her experience in executive and management development to design and deliver custom programs for Center clients in the corporate, private, and nonprofit sectors. She is a certified feedback specialist and executive coach.

Talula has owned and operated her own consulting business for more than 25 years, helping clients tackle an array of challenges, including executive communication, conflict management, dealing with climate and change, women and leadership, strategic planning, visioning, sales, quality processes, team building, and downsizing survival. She has a background in college administration and instruction. As an instructor, she taught professional writing, public speaking, creative thinking and problem solving, and executive communication, and has been recognized for teaching excellence. As a college leader, she specialized in organizational learning and adult continuing education, and in helping colleges forge relationships with the corporate sector, initiating new programs that fostered creative growth and collaborative development.

Talula is a former board member of the North Carolina Quality Council and the Carolinas Quality Consortium and has assisted W. Edwards Deming in workshops. She has written articles on thinking, writing, and leading, as well as several guidebooks published by CCL: Managing Conflict with Your Peers; Developing Your Intuition, A Guide to Reflective Practice; Communicating Your Vision; and Setting Priorities. She is a master practitioner in neurolinguistic programming and a certified instructor in the Betty Edwards Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain technique. Talula has a history in nonprofit board service and volunteerism, and has donated her time generously to organizations that help women and children.

Talula holds a doctorate in higher education leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
